Located at the base of the Santa Rita Mountains, in the fertile Santa Cruz River Valley, approximately 25 miles south of Tucson, Green Valley is one of America's premier adult communities. An elevation of approximately 2900 feet above sea level keeps the temperatures bearable in the summer and fabulous in the winter. The year round population is about 25,000 but nearly doubles during the winter months.
Green Valley was established in 1964. The surrounding area, however, is rich with history. There are two nearby missions built in the 1700's and the towns of Bisbee, Tubac and Tombstone. The nearby mountains attract birders, hikers, campers and skiers. Madera Canyon is 15 minutes away and close to the Whipple Observatory. People from all over the globe and from all walks of life come together here in Green Valley to enjoy the wonder of this pristine desert area.
